Art Therapy

Art therapy is a type of therapy which utilizes art materials and processes for healing and communication. Guided by a trained art therapist, you are encouraged to engage the mind, body, and spirit in ways that are distinct from verbal communication alone.

Art therapy can be used to improve cognitive and sensory-motor functions (such as hand-eye coordination), foster self-esteem and self-awareness, cultivate emotional resilience, promote insight, enhance social skills, and reduce and resolve conflicts and distress.

Creating art can help you learn to sooth and self-regulate, proving to be a healthy coping strategy. Additionally, by sharing things through images, symbols, and colors, information can be discovered that you were not consciously aware of.

Art therapy can benefit anyone who needs help coping through life’s challenges and no art skill is necessary. Art therapy does not focus on how good the product is, rather the process of engaging with the materials in the creative process.
